C4 -going Against Assumptions
This is by no means a "I think this is this or this is that or we should see this" Thread, its just something meant to try and make you people open up a little.
A lot of you seem to be stuck in the mindframe that all of Guild Wars is soley based on past (and somewhat current) cultures.
Sure its a Fantasy game, but why must it be limited to all the Cultures we know about? Why not just make something never before seen, instead of relying on the known)
Why not take what we have now - and Merge it with something That is Fantasy even for the Current Guild Wars Universe?
Example: (And I am amking this up as I am typing) Introduce Mechanics. Mechanical foes, Mechanical Tools / weapons (Don't think "guns" or "robots" - thats just - off, decadent and well, lame), - A Mechanical environment, resembling somewhat Sorrow's Furnace, Fire and Steal - or Cold and Steal due to the "northern Areas" concept.
As I said I am making this up as I go, But as for the environment, Maybe Say, a forest of Steal? Metalic plains? Metalic Fauna and flora? And end of game mechanical pet? Crossbows? A class of Bombers / mines? (Like traps only - mines)
Heck, this thing writes itself, Its Different to the current GW universe, but not as far fetched as to sound compleatly stupid.
Who knows, I mean, we saw and know almost nothing of the Charr, They Praise fire as a god, it would be almost dumb not to think they took smelting to another level.
So please stop assuming that it will be North American based, or because we saw Asian and North Africa and that prophecies as a mixture - but actually More American and European then by default that leaves Celtic and Mid eastern -
Just stop, you are seeing too much into it. The only people that know anything of what is happening are the Devs, The Producers and Directors.
And Even there, its not like they arn't making changes daily, if it takes a year to make a GW Chapter, then they are Around half way threw, and they can still go in any direction, Storywise and contentwise, because I doupt they have everything set in stone.
C4 can be anything - anything at all, And I am sick and tired of seeing more and more C4 threads. (I realize the irony)

Yes, I like the SteamPunk idea
Makes me think of the industrial revolution, very Dirty gritty and ... Sepia Tonned.
Just goes to show what ideas can be spawned Other then staying with what we have seen.

The point of this thread is to say we shouldn't be making more threads which guess about chapter four? I sort of get where you're coming from, but holy crap man, the irony is blatant and it totally decimates your main argument.
However, I think you're right that the fourth chapter doesn't need to be based on a real-world culture. In fact, I think it would be awesome and godlike if the developers could make a completely original society which doesn't reference our world at all. That's the point of fantasy and imagination, isn't it?
You know what though? I took that idea and tried to run with it. I couldn't do it at all. Everytime I tried to think up some new culture, I always found myself thinking, "yeah, it'd would be sort of like [blank] but with a bit of [blank] thrown in." It was actually sort of maddening, trying to come up with a genuinely innovative culture in my mind. Give me an example of a fantasy world not based on reality, and you win a big, fat, golden star that I doubt anyone in the world has ever won.

I'm sorry, but There was no other way that I could think of at 2 am To which I can say "Stop thinking inside the box" and "Stop repeating the same old threads, All your assumptions are probably wrong - including mine" at the same time.
And as far as the "new race" thing you challenged me at, Well, see thats the problem, Our creative is limited by our past experiences.
But as far As I can come up at 2:40 am, Which is nto based on any previous Culture would be hummm, a Race of beings in which to reproduce they go to war, Pigmies that by going to War - Spawn a new generation, Killing each other is some sort of mass orgy (this is a 13 + board) which assures that only the Bravest - the heros, pass on their genes.

Oh, original races are easy. It's architecture and landscape that's tough. I mean, for races, as an example, just look at the Mursaat.

Mmmmmmm Industrial, i like it!
I read the first post and saw "Plains of Steel" so on so on, and thought, take little offense please, what the f k is that?!
But then the Industrial idea was bought up of a world with Magic but still *Natural*, key word, and Industry is taking over. Now, i think its a bit far when we say people can conjure clockwork creeps but guns like early muskeets or flintlock pistols, not bad, think of it as a hammer, high damage low attack speed, no shield btw.
The two classes could be;
Explorer; Weapon: Rifle
Sub-Weapon: Flintlock Pistol
Attribs; - Marksmanship (shared with Rangers)
- Riflery
- Pistoling
- Beast Mastery (shared)
- Exploration (Sight bonus, passive attribute likened E. Storage.)
Mechanic; Weapon: Hammer
Sub-Weapon: Diverse
Attribs; - Weapon Mastery
- Hammer Mastery
- Mechanics ("Minions")
- Iron Working ("Minion" power ups, passive attrib.)

I would definitely NOT want a mesoamerican theme. We just had Nightfall, which is an African theme very similar to the tribes in the americas. No more grasslands, buffalo, bones, huts, tents, and tribal crap. I'd much rather have something like KoalaMeatPie described. It could be similar to Final Fantasy, where swords, axes, bows are still used, but are on par with guns and machinary.
Also, in the other thread about C4 which got closed, I would definitely like to see elves, however unoriginal they are, they would still be refreshing in gw. ANet could even make them slightly different from the stereotypical elf to add a GW twist.

If Guild Wars went steampunk and/or like Mirrodin, I think I'd die of happiness.
I'm using Summon Triskelion!

Im sorry, but I cant stand the mixture of technology and magic in games. I much prefer one or the other, both is just... Cant even put into words how it makes me feel, but lets try repulsed. Id seen Arcanum when it came out, and the "techno-magic" enviroment is what made me disinterested. IF it ever happened, I wont buy it for sure. Of course, I also dont get why "Magic" is so popular. Saw some people playing in a store once, watched for a few minutes, and just shook my head and walked away.

The amount of people currently pissed off with Ch.3 suggests the total amount of people who'll actually be buying Ch.4 unless A-Net pulls it's thumb out of it's backside will probably fit inside of a Starbucks.

^There's hardly anyone pissed off about Nightfall; particularly compared to Factions.
